Commissioned by Puma to create artworks in celebration of African football, Kehinde Wiley headed to his home continent to meet Africa’s football greats. Inspired by the richness of the continent, the New York-based artist created gigantic brightly-coloured portraits, which Puma then drew on to design their latest range, the Puma Africa Collection. Issue 19 of one small seed features this creative collaboration, centring a fashion spread entitled ‘Afro-Gazing’ on the vibrant collection. Click play to home in to see how Kehinde’s images infuse contemporary African flair to Puma’s range, as photographer Igor Polzenhagen presents an aesthetic discourse both provocative and ambiguous, in this inspirational collaboration between Puma and one small seed.
